Poe Ei Ei Khant, a former contestant on “The Meeting Point of Dreams”, has been recently seen entering the film industry. The audiences have also been taking more and more notice of her since then. Today, we sit down for an interview with her. A main focus of the interview is her upcoming film, “Forever Mom”, where she played the younger version of the role played by Academy award winning actress May Than Nu. First, she is asked to talk a bit about her scenes in the upcoming movie. She reaffirms that she will be seen as the younger version of May Than Nu’s character. She will be appearing in the flashback sequences where May Than Nu’s character is thinking back about days of her past, such as her wedding day and so on.
Does she feel like she got a big responsibility in this role? She feels like in just one or two scenes that she was in, she had a huge responsibility to get things right. Since she played a younger version of May Than Nu’s character, she also had to study May Than Nu’s speaking styles and gestures so that the character can be consistent. She is proud that she was given this rule due to faith in her ability, and she has portrayed it to the best of her ability. When asked about the preparations for the role, she answers that everyone was her senior on set. So all were involved in giving her tips and advice, and she gladly accepted all suggestions she could get in order to try her best in giving a great performance.

It all started when she received a phone call from U Maung, informing her that he needed someone to play May Than Nu’s character’s younger self. However, it was such a small role. She would only be in one or two scenes. So, he felt a bit bad about giving it to her, and only asked her to help him out if she could. However, she told him she didn’t mind at all. And that was how she ended up with the role. And what about her other works lately? She answers that right now she is focusing on making movies. There are a lot of her movies coming out. Also, on the 12th of this month, she was shooting a new movie called “El-Nino” with co-star Zay Ye Htet.
Going back to her beginnings in this industry, she started out in 2013 by entering the music contest show, “The Meeting Point of Dreams”. So isn’t she continuing with a career in music? She responds that it’s not that she is not going to follow through with a music career. It’s just that currently she hasn’t gotten around to it yet. But she does have plans to records albums in the future. So, why did she turn towards acting after starting out with singing? She says she is more interested in acting as a hobby. Currently, she is getting a lot of opportunities to work on movies that she is keen on and do the work that she loves. So she is deciding to focus on that and try her best. She has just been working for one year so far, so she feels that she still has a lot of weaknesses and that she still needs to strive to give her best work.
Has she ever experienced feelings of dissatisfaction in her own performances when she watches her films? She acquiesces that indeed she has felt that way many times. She confesses that she has no formal training in acting. Nor does she come from a family of actors to have acting in her genes. Since she was young though, it was her own crazy little hobby. She would watch a lot of movies and go to movie sets for observation. With just those as a basis, she started her acting career.
